Where Did I Come From?

Posted by Paul On March - 29 - 2026

Where did I come from?

Latter-day Saints believe we lived with God before we were born. In that premortal life, we were His spirit children, and He presented a plan that would allow us to come to earth, receive a body, learn, choose, and grow. References: Premortality; Council in Heaven; Abraham 3:22–26.

Earth life is therefore part of a much larger story. We did not begin at birth, and we do not believe our existence ends at death. We are part of Heavenly Father’s plan to help His children progress and return to Him. References: Premortality; Plan of Salvation.

Who Am I?

Who Am I?

Latter-day Saints believe that every person is a beloved child of God. Your worth is eternal, and your life has purpose far beyond what the world usually measures. Because we are His children, we each have divine potential and can grow through the grace of Jesus Christ. References: Children of God; Romans 8:16–17; Moses 1:39.

That belief shapes the way we try to see ourselves and others. No one is an accident, and no one is without value. Even in weakness, grief, or failure, we believe God knows us personally and invites us to come closer to Him. References: Children of God; God the Father; Moses 1:39.
